How many times have you wondered what to do with foodie-friend visiting Warsaw? Where to take guests from abroad to surprise them and show the history of Poland at the same time? On December 16, all your problems will be solved! Vodka Museum at Wierzbowa street is opening. A unique exhibition of various\u00a0objects related to the history of vodka gathered by two enthusiasts \u00a0Piotr Popi\u0144ski and Adam \u0141ukawski.<\/b><\/p>\n

Previewof the Museum and a press conference\u00a0led by Monika Kucia – famous Polish food\u00a0journalist – took place on November 29th. Owners managed to collect nearly 10,000 exhibits related to vodka and its history and created one of the largest collections of this type in the world. Small part is on display, but concept of the museum is to host various events: tastings, special exhibitions or workshops.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"taste<\/a><\/div>\n

“We focused primarily on developing an interesting collection that will make visitors aware of the role of\u00a0vodka as important element of Polish tradition, history and culture.” – Piotr Popi\u0144ski<\/b><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The museum is ideally placed in the idea of \u200b\u200bculinary tourism – quest for unforgettable experiences related to drinks. What is being promoted as theory by World Food Travel Association<\/a> or the Polish Association of Culinary Tourism<\/a><\/strong> in Warsaw becomes a fact! This will be an important landmark\u00a0on the map of culinary experiences for guests visiting Polish\u00a0capital. Just like museums devoted to whiskey in Scotland or rum in Havana – Vodka Museum is to promote Polish traditions of the distillation industry and the inseparable connection of this drink with Polish history.<\/p>\n

Indeed, the authors of the museum take us on a journey through a piece of Polish history written with unique objects – historical bottles, labels, advertisements, glass for drinking and serving, items related to vodka manufactories of the nineteenth and twentieth century Poland.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The museum\u2019s oldest exhibit in the sixteenth century bottle of GoldWasser from Gdansk, but believe me, it’s just one of many jewels\u00a0you can find here. \u00a0Personally, I was most interested in old bottles and labels. They show that a good design was always a priority\u00a0and only during communist Poland packaging was just\u00a0to protect and inform and the advertisement was unnecessary… \u00a0because\u00a0simply there was nothing to promote.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a>\"\"<\/a><\/div>\n

The museum is the last part of the DOM W\u00d3DKI (Vodka House) concept, which for several years has been developed\u00a0at Teatralny Square. It consists of the Elixir restaurant, where exquisite Polish cuisine pairs\u00a0with vodka, Vodka Atelier (offering 500 types of vodka!) and THE ROOTS cocktail bar. Last year, the “Vodka and Zakaski (snacks) Festival” joined the family.<\/p>\n

When?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

Vodka Museum officially starts on December 16,<\/b> open from 13-21, admission ticket (PLN 19 – without tasting) – supposedly there are also tasting options, or combined with dinner at Elixir restaurant.<\/p>\n
